HAND PROJECT

This was the second exact kitchen for the Hand family. Having moved into a new home and leaving their exact kitchen behind, they wanted a contemporary, stylish space to update the tired kitchen that came with the new house.

Inspired by the contemporary handleless kitchen designs they saw in the exact showroom, the Hands wanted to create a similar kitchen for their home. They wanted their kitchen to be unique, modern and full of character.

With close consultation to understand the Hands’ vision and requirements for the space, we came up with a design that matched their needs. As they were keeping the existing flooring, we were limited by the layout, so we had to work the design around the existing floor plan and tiles.

DETAILS EXPLAINED

The Hands decided on wooden cabinetry combined with black Silestone quartz worktops and splashback, in a black marble print. This created a striking contrast between the traditional warmth of the timber and the sleek, dark surfaces, to form an eye-catching kitchen. 

With handleless access for doors and drawers across the whole kitchen, a seamless, minimalist look was achieved, using a mixture of contemporary and traditional materials. For the upper cabinets on the far wall, we included glass lift-up units for a practical storage area. Combining glass with matte black further added to the sleek, stylish look of the space.

We included state-of-the-art appliances throughout the kitchen, including a matte black Blanco tap, and a Siemens oven and microwave, all incorporated seamlessly into the cabinets. A Siemens venting hob with an extractor hood concealed in the cabinets provided a stylish, safe and energy-efficient cooking area.
